Wicked Cities From A Distance
Wicked Cities From A Distance is a four hour animation currently in post-production. The film details a complete change of seasons.
The major theme of the film is time. Each season drifts into the next seamlessly, without the viewer noticing.
Created over the course of four years (unsurprisingly), the seasons take four hours time to complete the journey.
The production of Wicked Cities From A Distance opted into stop motion photography at a hyper slow pace.
Each frame was captured at the home studio of award-winning film composer Dave Wirth.
A custom lightbox was created specifically for the production, and a DSLR camera was mounted to the ceiling, semi-permanently.
The music of this film is an unbroken 4-hour long ambient piece with 14 different songs.
Each song was time-stretched to create a deep hum of sound, one that changed almost without notice.
Most materials for the film were gathered from Mother Nature herself and used in the appropriate season.
